The Spotlight Programme

The London Book Fair aims to support the global book community through several different initiatives, including our Spotlight Programme.

This programme highlights the literature of the chosen country or region, and showcases the exciting opportunities within the market - placing publishers, authors, illustrators and the book community on an international stage at LBF.

We'll announce our newest Guest Spotlight in the lead up to the next LBF event.

The London Book Fair’s 2023 Spotlight – Ukraine

In 2023 our seminar programme featured a series of Ukrainian events as part of our Spotlight on Ukraine, including an opening ceremony with Olena Zelenska, First Lady of Ukraine.

Created in partnership with the Ukrainian Book Institute, English PEN, The Publishers Association (PA), International Publishers Association (IPA) and the British Council, these conversations considered how Ukrainian writers have responded to the war, the role that books play in the fight against disinformation and for democracy, the role of women’s voices in these discussions, and writing from the front line.

The London Book Fair’s 2022 Spotlight – Catalan

In 2022, we shone the spotlight on Catalan, collaborating with the Institut Ramon Llull (IRL) and the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC). This collaboration successfully helped promote and share Catalan culture and literature.

The Catalan Culture Spotlight saw the Institut Ramon Llull (IRL) and the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (ICEC) deliver a programme of meetings between Catalan publishers and British and American publishers/agents, as well as a series of events comprising Catalan Authors, Translators and Illustrators.
