How to Find, and Work With, a Literary Agent

How to Find, and Work With, a Literary Agent

10 Apr 2018, 11:45 - 12:30

Author HQ

Literary agents from three leading agencies - Janklow & Nesbitt, Furniss Lawton and The Blair Partnership - will be in discussion on the role of a literary agent and the relationships they have with both authors and publishers.   The speakers will provide advice on the best way to approach a literary agent, what to prepare in advance of any approach and discuss what an author should consider when seeking agent representation.  Covering fiction, non-fiction, children’s and YA, the seminar will also look at what agents and publishers are looking for when taking on new writers today.  The role of a literary agency international rights team will be covered, looking at how translation rights are marketed in overseas territories, relationships with overseas scouts - and if it’s possible to immediately spot an international bestseller.
