Julija Gulbinovič


Julija Gulbinovič studied Lithuanian Philology and Foreign (Croatian) Language at Vilnius University, Lithuania, followed by a Master’s degree in Human Geography at Queen Mary University of London. Julija has translated “Postmortem Trilogy” by Mate Matisić and the Serbian classic Miloš Crnjanski’s “Migrations” from Croatian and Serbian respectively into Lithuanian. Her first translation into English was for theatre – a play by the Lithuanian playwright Gabrielė Labanauskaitė for the project Poetry House Live staged and performed by the GoodDog theatre company in 2016. In 2017-2018, she has been developing her skills within the frame of the Literary Translation Fellowship, initiated by the British Council and the Lithuanian Culture Institute. She participated in the International Literary Translation & Creative Writing Summer School in Norwich in 2017 and 2018. In August 2018, she attended a translation residency in Vilnius and Nida, Lithuania, during which she completed the translation of the graphic novel “Dr Quadratus: Greimas and his Semiotics” by Miglė Anušauskaitė.
