Since the end of Apartheid South African publishing has emerged as a vibrant and diverse landscape, which is why it has been chosen as the 2010 London Book Fair Market Focus, says Danuta Kean

As the world's attention focuses on South Africa as it hosts the World Cup this year, publishers will be looking at the country with renewed interest after it was chosen as the Market Focus for the 2010 London Book Fair. The Market Focus strand of the fair involves a packed programme of commercial events organised by the LBF alongside its business partners, as well as cultural events co-hosted by the British Council. It builds on events staged over the past year to open both markets up to one another.
