The British Council is curating a literature programme which aims to highlight South Africa as the Market Focus at The London Book Fair through a series of events in South Africa and the UK involving writers, readers and industry professionals. 

The cultural programme at The London Book Fair will provide a unique opportunity for contemporary South African writers to reach a global publishing audience and take part in discussions and debates aimed at strengthening cultural relations.

The Publishers’ Association of South Africa (PASA)

The Publishers’ Association of South Africa (PASA) is the largest publishing industry body in South Africa. The PASA membership is comprised of 159 publishing houses and 23 associate members from other sectors of the book chain. PASA is committed to creativity, literacy, the free flow of ideas and the encouragement of a culture of reading.

At the Cape Town Book Fair, Dudley Schroeder, the Chairman of PASA, said that the Publishers Association of South Africa was "very excited about the opportunity that this honour offers South African publishers, writers, and those in the book trade to showcase the best of South African literature and publishing to the rest of the world. Make sure you book your space early, this is one event that you really don't want to miss out on."
