About

Ian Ginn is a producer of award-winning feature films and television drama with over twenty years experience creating pioneering digital and interactive media, and is producer and creator of one of 2011’s most talked-about transmedia experiences, sci-fi thriller SALIGIA-7.

Ian founded Hubbub Media in 2008 to develop original transmedia properties, and over a 24 month period worked with university medialabs and media partners to prototype and experiment with a series of transmedia shorts. In 2011 he produced the pilot for SALIGIA-7, which mixes traditional media such as print and broadcast with new media such as Facebook, webisodes, twitter, mobile, and live pervasive experiences on the streets of Amsterdam. A further installment is in development for 2012 with partners in Europe and North America.

He is a frequently asked expert speaker at international events including EBU TV Summit (Lucerne), TEDxTransmedia 2010 (Geneva) and 2011 (Rome), DIYdays (Los Angeles), StoryWorld (San Francisco), Power to the Pixel (London), San Sebastian Film Festival, and many others.

Ian leads workshops and labs throughout Europe, mentoring professionals and organisations on developing and producing transmedia projects. In 2010 he established the Transmedia Learning Network to professionalise the field of transmedia content creation and production, working with forward-looking companies and organisations, film- and media-schools and university faculties.

Currently Ian is in development on SALIGIA-7 for 2012, is is mentoring a group of programme makers at Dutch broadcaster AVRO on transmedia innovation, as well as creators of a Steampunk project in the UK and a Scandinavian thriller, and is leading a series of 2-day workshops for experienced producers “From Concept to Transmedia Pilot”.
