Renārs Kaupers, born in 1974, is a Latvian musician and songwriter, as well as frontman and vocalist of the band Prāta Vētra (Brainstorm). He has released eight full length albums with the band, some of which have been sold internationally since 2000. Renārs Kaupers has participated in various joint music projects and appeared in several feature films both as a musician and as an actor. In 2009, he was one of the founders and activists of “The Little Cavalry”.

 

When Renārs met Imants Ziedonis, the poet gave permission to use his poetry and ideas for the band’s lyrics. Prāta Vētra’s song Mazā bilžu rāmītī (In My Little Picture Frame) contains Ziedonis’ lyrics and has been arranged for choirs singing in English, Russian, Chinese and German. Renārs Kaupers started building the museum by way of song at first, and he was among first to come up with the idea to create the fund Viegli. He is still one of the chairmen of the board and the creative director of the fund.
