What's on for Authors

For advice on self-publishing, marketing your book and seminars about authorship, The London Book Fair is the place for authors to navigate the publishing industry.

  • Author Lounge

Sponsored by Fast-Print Publishing, the LBF Author Lounge is a dedicated area for authors, where they can relax and get valuable advice on all aspects of self-publishing, from writing, to design and marketing to the general process.

The Author Lounge programme will be available shortly

Love Learning – Education & Events

As well as The Author Lounge, The London Book Fair provides a wide range of informative seminars and events with celebrated authors, many of which will offer inspiration and ideas for authors at all levels whether you are looking to get your first book published or advance your career as an established writer.

    New Title Showcase

  • Reaching Agents during the fair

The International Rights Centre is a key area of the show where a wide range of international Literary Agents are based throughout.

Please be aware that the majority of these agents will already have a full schedule of meetings. Although there are exceptions, the IRC is generally not the environment to approach agents to represent you and your book. The IRC is predominantly used by agents to sell rights to books for authors they already represent.

If you are looking for an agent to represent you we advise you follow these steps before the fair:

    • Find out which agencies to approach - some specialise in certain areas such as romance, crime etc
    • Before sending your manuscript find out how best to submit your work to each agency (e.g. a synopsis, a chapter etc) as different agencies may have different processes
    • Contact the agencies directly to pre-arrange an appointment at The London Book Fair

The online exhibitor directory and the official printed LBF directory will give you the names of the agencies who will be at the fair. By request of the agencies, we are unable to give contact details unless they have specified.
